More Raffles: the amateur cracksman and Bunny break into a country house during a shooting party, rob a Chelsea studio, and are blackmailed by a man who knows. Hornung was Conan Doyle's brother-in-law and built Raffles by inverting Holmes and Watson into a burglar and his accomplice; Doyle disapproved, wrote that one should not make a criminal a hero, and was quite right, which is why it works.
