Gerry Williamsson is sixty-two, out of a job, and quietly falling apart.
Once, he dreamed of a life in football. And he still has one extraordinary gift: after decades of practice, Gerry can bend a free kick into the top corner from almost anywhere.
But after losing his wife and growing apart from his son, Gerry has come to believe that his best years are behind him.
Then his remarkable talent is discovered—and suddenly football offers him a second chance he never expected.
As Gerry finds his way back onto the pitch, his life begins to change too. But moving forward means facing the losses, relationships and choices he has spent years avoiding.
A warm and uplifting novel about football, loss, friendship and second chances—and discovering that it's never too late to find your place again.
