Twenty-nine tales from Turkish, Indian, Danish and Armenian sources, among them the story of the boy who found fear and the enchanted deer. The olive book was the eleventh of Lang's coloured series and the last but one; by then the collections he drew on were coming from field ethnographers rather than earlier books. The Turkish stories are the best of it. Its 51 original illustrations have been carefully restored and coloured for this edition.
