Alexandre Dumas was a French writer who lived in the period 1802-1870. Dumas wrote many essays, short stories and travelogues which recount not only his personal life, but give also give an insight into the literary life during the French Romantic Movement. As a result Alexandre Dumas is known to be one of the most popular and leading authors of the 19th century.
