''Beverly Gray, Sophomore'' is the second novel in the Beverly Gray Mystery series written by Clair Blank. This installment follows Beverly and her close-knit circle of friends through their second year at Vernon College.
As her sophomore year begins, Beverly is elected president of the newly organized Alpha Delta Sorority. Eager to pursue writing, she also secures a position on the Vernon College newspaper, The Comet. Her very first assignment plunges her into a mystery: she is tasked with investigating reports of strange lights and mysterious figures lurking inside the abandoned Horler Mansion.
After experiencing a bizarre incident at the property firsthand, Beverly, along with her loyal friends—Shirley Parker, Lenora Whitehill, Anne White, Rosalie Arnold, and Lois Mason—set up a nightly stakeout rotation. During her investigation, she crosses paths with a friendly local young man named Larry Owens, though she quickly begins to wonder if he is secretly tied to the suspicious activity at the mansion.
