À propos de ce livre

Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes is one of the greatest and most influential novels ever written: a comic, tragic, and profoundly human story about imagination, idealism, madness, and the difficult boundary between dreams and reality.

Alonso Quixano, an aging gentleman from La Mancha, has read so many tales of chivalry that he decides to become a knight-errant himself. Renaming himself Don Quixote, he sets out to revive heroism, defend the weak, and seek glory in a world that no longer resembles the romances he adores. With his loyal but practical squire Sancho Panza at his side, he transforms inns into castles, windmills into giants, and ordinary encounters into grand adventures.

First published in two parts in 1605 and 1615, Cervantes's masterpiece is often considered the first modern novel. It is at once a parody of chivalric romance, a satire of literary fantasy, and a deeply moving exploration of human dignity. Through the contrast between Don Quixote's noble illusions and Sancho Panza's earthy realism, the novel creates one of literature's most unforgettable partnerships.

Funny, wise, inventive, and endlessly rich, Don Quixote remains a cornerstone of world literature. It continues to speak to readers because it asks timeless questions: What is madness? What is courage? Can illusion sometimes reveal a deeper truth than reality itself?
