Zonder hem zou de wereld nooit gehoord hebben van de Broeders en Zusters van het Gemene Leven of 'De navolging van Christus'. Vijftig jaar na zijn dood schreef Thomas Kempis een biografie van deze markante religieuze wegbereider.
