Orso es un indio americano que trabaja en un circo, bajo un propietario dominador y autoritario. El trabajo en el circo es lo único que le han enseñado, e ignora completamente la cultura de su propia raza. Las circunstancias le llevan a huir al desierto con la joven Jenny, donde ambos podrán comenzar una nueva vida en libertad. El relato parece evocar la situación política de Polonia y la imposición cultural que sufre.
