Friedrich Nietzsche, one of the most influential philosophers of the nineteenth century, had an impact on contemporary thinking that reached beyond philosophy. His writings influenced modern anthropology, psychology, religion, and sociology. Nietzsche's profound notions and viewpoints have also influenced poets, authors, and painters. This authoritative compilation, edited by a recognised Nietzsche researcher, is an important collection of practically all of Nietzsche's early works. These aphorisms and prose poems, which mark the beginning of his mature philosophy, investigate the motives that drive humans to seek the comforts of religion, morality, metaphysics, and art. Nietzsche advocates for more autonomy and personality development, tackles societal and familial concerns, and explores visions of free spirits who have the strength to reject idealist biases.
