This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice. Baron Trump is a small, restless, wildly self-confident boy of noble Russian birth who lives at Castle Trump and cannot be kept indoors. Armed with an ancient manuscript from the family library and accompanied by his devoted dog Bulger, he sets off for the forests of Russia to find the entrance to the world beneath our own.
Down he goes, into a hollow earth of impossible peoples: the Wind Eaters, who live on air and burst if touched; the Mirror Country, where every wall reflects; the tiny Man-Hunting Vine; the Rattlebrains; and the sightless Formifolk who have never known the sun. Each kingdom has its own absurd laws, its own courtesies, and its own ways of nearly killing a curious boy.
Guided by the manuscript of the sage Don Fum and his own considerable nerve, Baron Trump journeys on toward the centre of the earth, with Bulger at his heels through every disaster.
First published in 1889, Ingersoll Lockwood's Victorian fantasy for children is a whimsical, inventive descendant of Jules Verne and Lewis Carroll, written in the golden age of hollow-earth adventure. This unabridged audiobook edition presents the complete original text.
