Su Tong is one of the most acclaimed novelists in China today. He came to international attention in 1993 when the film of his novella Raise the Red Lantern was nominated for an Academy Award. In 2009, he was awarded the Man Asian Literary Prize for The Boat to Redemption. He lives in Nanjing with his family.
