First I watched the movie, then read the book and now I've finished the audiobook. The book is in first person, so you get to explore the inner workings of Livvy, the main character. In terms of the story I feel the book is missing like 2 or 3 more chapters, I'd like clarification of a few threads started and abandoned. In general I enjoyed seeing up close from such a down-to-earth level the everyday life in US during WWII. The book unfolds slowly, the ending feels too rushed. But it's a pleasant, short story if you can connect with the protangonist.
