Villijoutsenet : Kolmen kiinattaren tarina

Kolme kiinalaista naista: isoäiti, äiti ja tytär

Näiden kolmen naisen elämänkohtalot laajenevat kuvaukseksi elämästä viime vuosisadan Kiinassa - keisarien ajalta Tiananmenin aukion tapahtumiin.

Jung Chang kuvaa kirjassa muun muassa Kiinan kulttuurivallankumouksen järkyttäviä tapahtumia, jotka hän koki itse omakohtaisesti. Valtaisaksi menestykseksi noussut, palkittu elämäkerta tuo silmiemme eteen todellisuuden, jota historiankirjat eivät koskaan tavoita.
