Composed to commemorate the birth of Albert Edward, Prince of Wales to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert this setting for four part choir and organ takes verses from "Genesis' and 'Deuteronomy' as the basis of the liturgy which praises Jacob's blessing of Joseph; Joseph, a man who stood apart from his brothers and who suffered because of their treachery but who eventually prevailed to become one of the most powerful men in the earthly realm.
