Seven years ago, I lost him for good. Now he's back, but is he still the Jay Gatsby I used to know…or is he something more? Something… darker.
Daisy Finnegan is looking forward to the endless golden freedom of summer. No more college, no more pressure, no more worries. But when her cousin goes missing at an exclusive house party, Daisy is all too ready to confront the mysterious host…only to discover the wealthy recluse is Jay Gatsby, her childhood sweetheart?now sinfully hot and impossible to deny.
She could never resist him, and it isn't long before she's entangled in a web of wealth and lies and obsession, culminating in a shocking act of violence that shatters the summer haze and threatens to drown them all.
But it isn't until Gatsby is shot through the heart?and survives?that Daisy discovers the truth of how he clawed his way up in the world: by selling the secret of immortality to the highest bidder. Now with her friends' lives at stake, her own dizzying new powers still volatile, and an unimaginable threat closing in, Daisy will have to face an impossible choice: Side with the man who claimed her body and soul? Or with the monsters who would see him lost to her forever?
An addictive and truly original spicy New Adult retelling of The Great Gatsby with a magical twist.

I love the idea and the plot. The main couple was the best modernization. Daisy is a wealthy college grad who doesn’t know what to do with her life and Gatsby is a billionaire who made his money in a creative way. Nick is unabashedly queer and gets a romance plot instead of hopelessly pinning after Gatsby, and Jordan had the same great personality just a different occupation. The vampirism was woven in pretty well. One of the only things that threw me off were how frequently (and very frustratingly) conversations and arguments were repeated. I also felt like Gatsby and Daisy were really rushed and weren’t given enough time to reconnect. The thing that turned me off the most were just little things that don’t seem accurate to young 20 somethings today. Phrases, references, and plot points that didn’t make sense in the context and didn’t add anything to the story. The ending was okay and the epilogue was nice, but personally I don’t understand why she wanted Jay to turn her into a vampire after only reconnecting for about a month or two at most. A future engagement for them is hinted at in the last chapter, and I would have liked an open ended decision on the turning and then an epilogue a couple years later where they are engaged and both vampires. Otherwise I think this was a great adaptation that will be on my mind for weeks with great characters that I think I will read again. Loved the little extra chapter at the end that gave an alternate happy ending for 20s Gatsby and Daisy!
