Mackenzie has dedicated her life to researching and protecting sharks, but they started disappearing around the same time a land developer moved in. No one but her team seems to notice or care about the decline in shark population around the Bahamas island she calls home. With no one else to ask for help, Mackenzie is determined to solve the mystery on her own.
Barry is on a secret mission to look after Mackenzie to make sure she doesn't get into trouble. He isn't briefed on the whole story, but one glance at Mackenzie and he starts digging into the changes happening on the island, and protecting her becomes his sole mission.
Mackenzie is immediately drawn to Barry, but a hookup with a tourist isn't enough to distract her from finding all the missing sharks. Only Barry seems to be looking into the missing sharks as well. Why is he really there, and could he help her finally solve the mystery? Or is discovering the truth going to get them both killed?
