‘The Psychology of the Unconscious Processes’ by Carl Jung examines the fantasies of a patient whose poetic and vivid mental images assisted Jung in redefining libido as psychic energy which rises from the unconscious to manifest itself consciously in symbolic form. Jung's commentary on these fantasies reveals a wealth of symbolic parallels present in mythology, religion, ethnology, art and literature.
