Dunwichin hirviö ja muita kertomuksia kokoaa yhteen novelleja H. P. Lovecraftin uran eri vaiheilta. Kokoelmassa on muutama pitkä, Cthulhu-mytologiaan liittyvä klassikkonovelli sekä lyhyitä kertomuksia. Niminovellissa Dunwichin hirviö seurataan syrjäisen maatilan oudon varhaiskypsää poikaa ja hänen kehitystään. Toisessa pitkässä novellissa Olio kynnyksellä nuoren miehen uteliaisuus salatieteitä kohtaan johtaa hyytävään loppuun. Väri avaruudesta kuuluu kiistatta Lovecraftin tuotannon parhaimmistoon, eikä kukaan sen joskus lukenut voi unohtaa ajatusta inhimillistä käsityskykyä uhmaavasta vieraudesta, koko tienoon myrkyttävästä väristä, jonka spektri on ennennäkemätön.
