Baring-Gould wrote his West Country novels from the ground up, parish by parish, and the landscape does half the work. This edition is bound with 57 plates of paintings by Edvard Munch, William Owen, Julius Caesar Ibbetson and George Henry Harlow, dating from 1662 to 1920.
