The last stage of the tour: up the Nile from Cairo through Nubia to Khartoum and Gondokoro, on foot to the Albert and Victoria lakes and King M'tesa's court in Uganda, and down to the coast at Zanzibar through Mirambo's country and along Stanley's and Livingstone's routes. Knox closed the series with the continent that was being carved up as he wrote, and filled the boys' notebooks with figures on trade, game and rainfall. Its 288 original illustrations have been carefully restored and coloured for this edition.
