this was written by a woman yet it is somehow so heavy on "the male gaze", like, women are mysterious and sexy and otherworldly, and the main character is just a man. (some other men are mysterious and magical too, but there is just something about the main character that bugs me.) this book was written in honour og homeless vietnam war veterans, but I'm not sure if its good to portray those people as magical because of their homelessness... and that's the feeling I got. the general urban fantasy aspect is very cool though
