On Christmas Eve 1969, a letter from Australia House, London, changes everything for newlyweds Anna and Joseph Fletcher.
Young, idealistic and full of hope, Anna falls passionately in love with their adopted land. But just a few months later, an unexpected event shatters her dreams and leaves her struggling to find herself.
Friendship and writing gradually offer a path forward, as Anna discovers the courage to tell stories others would rather leave untold. Her books ignite fierce debate, challenging attitudes to women's rights, abortion and sexuality.
As depression tightens its grip, Anna retreats into the fictional worlds she creates. Soon, she will have to confront the one question she has spent a lifetime avoiding.
Sue Parritt's A QUESTION OF COUNTRY is a moving, deeply reflective novel about identity, creativity and belonging.
