A young aristocrat comes of age as the old Tory party dies and asks what a party is for. Disraeli wrote it in 1844 as a manifesto for Young England and put half the cabinet into it under other names; it is the first English political novel of ideas. This edition is bound with a gallery of 59 plates after painters including Frith, Leech, Morland and Turner, dating from 1789 to 1883.
