Complete and unabridged, with 59 full-page plates by Edwin Lord Weeks, Raja Deen Dayal and Jan Ciągliński. Yasmini as a girl: a princess of mixed blood in a Rajput state, an English commissioner, a hidden treasure, and a Brahmin priesthood that intends to have both. Mundy was born William Gribbon, spent his twenties in India and East Africa as an ivory poacher and confidence man, and was jailed for it before reinventing himself in America — which is precisely why his India smells of something other than the club. Fifty-nine plates, from Abanindranath Tagore and Edwin Lord Weeks among others, carry the Rajput courts, Mughal processions and bazaar life of the story in paint.
