I guess I can digest V.E. Schwab's writing when combined with another author's. Still, this had one blatantly obvious Schwab characteristic: the character focus. And by this I mean that the book is mostly character build-up. The mystery component starts past the 60% mark. The culprit was pretty obvious from the get-go, and the reason for the murderous rampage was basic. I did like some of the social commentary, especially since it was modern and very much relevant to our time. However, I feel like I've read this story before, and done much more interestingly.
