Geoffrey Chaucer [ca 1343—1400] var en engelsk filosof och författare. Chaucer räknas som en av de mest inflytelserika poeterna från medeltiden. Hans mest berömda verk är Canterburysägner från runt år 1400, en samling om 24 berättelser skrivna på vers. Canterburysägner betraktas som ett av de viktigaste verken inom den engelskspråkiga litteraturen och har influerat otaliga tolkningar.
