Bazarov - a gifted, impatient, and caustic young man - has journeyed from school to the home of his friend Arkady Kirsanov. But soon Bazarov's outspoken rejection of authority and social conventions touches off quarrels, misunderstandings, and romantic entanglements that will utterly transform the Kirsanov household and reflect the changes taking place all across nineteenth-century Russia.

A novel to put you to sleep. Don't worry though, there isn't much to miss out on, as your dreams have a million times more happen in them than this novel. This lovely and thoroughly Russian innovation in style is so influential that the later great works are so much like children and half children of this that this novel is like if someone took every Russian classic that came after this and threw them together into a particle accelerator. Coming up with the word "nihilism" is cool, but there has to be something else interesting in a novel than just words.
