Don Mendo and beautiful Magdalena are lovers. The young woman's father, knowing nothing of this affair, decides to marry his daughter to the Duke of Toro, which may end up in a scandal. This situation horrifies the girl. Don Mendo promises his beloved that he will not betray her and will find the way out.
