Fourth Wing meets The Hunger Games in this sizzling fantasy romance not to be missed.
Only the extraordinary belong in the kingdom of Ilya . . . The exceptional. The Elites. The Elites have possessed powers for decades, gifted to them by the Plague, while those born Ordinary are just that, banished from the kingdom and shunned from society.
No one knows this better than Paedyn Gray, an Ordinary posing as an Elite. When she unsuspectingly saves one of Ilya’s princes, Kai Azer, she’s thrown into the Purging Trials, a brutal competition to showcase her ‘Elite’ powers.
If the Trials and the opponents don’t kill her, the prince she’s fighting feelings for will if he discovers what Paedyn really is . . . completely Ordinary.
Be swept away by the first in the smash hit, dagger-to-the-throat romantasy trilogy that's taken the world by storm.

3.7/5 I picked up Powerless to see if it lived up to the hype—and honestly, it somewhat does. I can absolutely see why so many readers are drawn to it. The story has that addictive quality, especially for fans of dystopian romance with a strong-willed heroine and a brooding, slow burn dynamic. If I had read this at a younger age, I probably would have loved it. The romantic tension is well-paced and will satisfy readers looking for that emotional build-up. However, the plot felt a bit too predictable for my taste. There were moments that were almost too familiar—at times, the resemblance to The Hunger Games was so strong it bordered on derivative. Because of that, I can’t bring myself to rate it over 4 stars. That said, Powerless is still an entertaining read. It’s perfect for those who enjoy dystopian tropes, slow burn romance, and a fast-paced storyline—even if it doesn't break much new ground.
