Agatha Christie (1890-1976) on eittämättä kuuluisin dekkarirouva. Hän loi englantilaisen salapoliisiromaaniperinteen, jonka jalanjälkiä monet tallaavat vielä tänäkin päivänä. Christie kirjoitti elämänsä aikana noin 70 romaania sekä tukun radio- ja teatterikäsikirjoituksia, novelleja ym. Hän on myös tuottanut tekstiä salanimellä Mary Westmacott. Tunnetuimpia Christien luomia hahmoja ovat neiti Marple sekä Hercule Poirot. Belgialainen Poirot oli keskushenkilönä jo hänen ensimmäisessä romaanissaan Stylesin tapaus, joka julkaistiin alun perin vuonna 1920. Christie on aateloitu Englannissa. Hänet valittiin vuonna 2000 viime vuosisadan parhaaksi rikoskirjailijaksi dekkaristien kansainvälisessä kokouksessa USA:ssa.
