Many plotholes that have been tried to fill in a hurry, there's many questions left in the end and it just seems rushed. The story could have been so much better if they actually bothered to go to the directions they started to, but they ended many things in a brick wall with a lame excuse. Random changes suddenly appear out of nowhere, such as the mate thing. It just seems they made it up in the end, there was no foreshadowing for this whatsoever. It did not seem like R knew anything about them being mates at all. From now on I'm going to steer clear from two author books.
