"The Ebony Frame" was first published in Longman's Magazine (1891) and later in "Grim Tales" (1893), a collection of E. Nesbit's romantic horror stories. A young man, who has come into possession of his deceased aunt's house, discovers a strange portrait of a beautiful woman. Could it be that he has met the subject of this bewitching image before?
