60's Icons : Blackbird Paul McCartney Dark Horse George Harrison Vivian Stanshall

Beatle insider Geoffrey Giuliano presents a complex and often unsettling portrait of Paul McCartney, drawing from extensive interviews with the star and those around him. McCartney emerges as a figure of contradictions—an indulgent entrepreneur yet a devoted father, a faithful husband, and a passionate environmentalist. The work delves into his struggles with grief, from his mother’s untimely death to the losses of his father, Jim, and John Lennon. It also explores the Beatles' rise, their turbulent breakup, and McCartney’s whirlwind romance with actress Jane Asher, alongside candid insights into the band’s drug use and personal entanglements.

Dark Horse, written and narrated by Emmy-nominated actor-author Geoffrey Giuliano, offers an intimate look at George Harrison—the most enigmatic Beatle. Beyond fame, Harrison pursued a profound spiritual journey that shaped his music, legacy, and role as the father of world music, introducing Eastern sounds and philosophy to the West. Through exclusive interviews, firsthand accounts, and decades of research, this audiobook traces his path from Liverpool to Beatlemania, their painful split, and his groundbreaking solo career.

Vivian Stanshall, the eccentric pop hero of the '60s, '70s, and '80s, first rose to fame in 1968 with the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band, known for their offbeat humor and surrealist music. Born in 1943 in Oxfordshire, he pursued a variety of odd jobs before enrolling at London’s Central School of Art and Design, where he met his future bandmates. The Bonzos gained recognition through their appearance in Magical Mystery Tour and their 1968 hit I’m the Urban Spaceman. Struggling with addiction, he later lived on a houseboat with his second wife, Pamela Longfellow, but tragically died in a London flat fire in 1995 at age 51.
