Der Band untersucht literarische Identitätskonstruktionen in der deutschsprachigen Gegenwartsliteratur seit 1989. Vor dem Hintergrund historischer Zäsuren wie Wiedervereinigung, Migration und globaler Krisen analysieren die Beiträge verschiedene Identitätsformen: deutsche, jüdisch-deutsche, migrantische und postmigrantische, transkulturelle sowie maritime Identitäten. Als Reflexionsmedium gesellschaftlicher Transformationen fungiert Literatur dabei als privilegierter Raum für die Verhandlung komplexer Identitätsprozesse. Durch interdisziplinäre Ansätze erforschen die Studien Brüche, Relationen und Erinnerungen als zentrale Dimensionen der Identitätsbildung und verstehen literarische Texte als Archiv kollektiver kultureller Erfahrungen.
This volume examines literary identity constructions in German-language contemporary literature since 1989. Against the backdrop of historical caesuras such as reunification, migration, and global crises, the contributions analyze various forms of identity: German, Jewish-German, migrant and post-migrant, transcultural, and maritime identities. As a medium for reflecting societal transformations, literature functions as a privileged space for negotiating complex identity processes. Through interdisciplinary approaches, the studies explore ruptures, relations, and memories as central dimensions of identity formation and understand literary texts as an archive of collective cultural experiences.
