Open a doorway into a world where every creature carries a story, a warning, a blessing or a spell. Fairy-horses rise from the Burren, wolf-kings keep their ancient counsel, and hares, seals, bees and hounds move between the everyday and the enchanted.
Drawing on medieval bestiaries, Celtic mythology, the writings of the saints, and poetry and folk beliefs passed down through generations, Niall Mac Coitir explores the wonder, strangeness and magic of the animals that have haunted and nourished the Irish imagination.
Beautifully illustrated and meticulously researched, Ireland's Animals: Myths, Legends and Folklore is an enduring celebration of the creatures that have shaped our folklore, and a testament to the indelible bond between people, place and the wild world around us.
