Shadow Over Mars

Shadow Over Mars is a science fiction novel by Leigh Brackett.

How would Rick fulfill the prophecy that linked his name with the destiny of a dying world? He was a man without a planet, and he owed allegiance to nothing — except his lust for power!

Rick Urquhart was going to conquer the turmoil-ridden planet of Mars. He was penniless and unknown, but there could be no doubt that he would rule the Red Planet-the ancient Martian mystic had made the prophecy, there was no way fate could cheat him of his prize.

But there were powerful interests on both Earth and Mars who didn't believe in prophecies-and they were going to undo Rick's future before it had a chance to begin...

Shadow Over Mars was first published in 1944, in the magazine Startling Stories. In 1961 it was published in the U.S. as The Nemesis from Terra. E-book: ePUB, 41.000 words, reading time approximately 3 hours, 25 min. Unabridged full version.

Leigh Douglass Brackett (1915-1978) was an American author, particularly of science fiction, and has been referred to as the Queen of Space Opera.
