The Beasts of Tarzan (1914) is the third novel in Edgar Rice Burroughs's Tarzan series and continues the adventures of Lord Greystoke, now living peacefully with his wife, Jane Porter, and their infant son, Jack. Their happiness is shattered when Tarzan's old enemies—Nikolas Rokoff and Alexis Paulvitch—escape from prison and kidnap both Jane and the child as part of a revenge scheme. Rokoff abandons Tarzan on a remote jungle island, leaving him for dead. Drawing on his strength and primal instincts, Tarzan survives and unites with a band of animal allies—an ape named Akut, a leopard called Sheeta, and other wild creatures who become his "army." Together, they pursue the villains through the African wilderness in a daring rescue mission. Tarzan tracks Rokoff to the mainland, battling natural dangers and human treachery alike. In a thrilling climax, he rescues Jane and their son, bringing justice to his enemies. The novel emphasizes loyalty, the bond between humans and animals, and Tarzan's evolution from savage to protector. Blending action, romance, and moral courage, The Beasts of Tarzan reinforces Burroughs's vision of a hero equally at home in civilization and the wild.
