During his service in East Africa, the author contacted the native tribes from Lake Victoria to the coast. He closely researched their social organization and religious beliefs, resulting in a series of publications that later flew into the presented book. The first attempts to explore this field were conducted among the tribes of Kavirondo, Nyanza, and Ukamba. Later, the author spent much time with the Kikuyu and Kamba tribes of the Kenia colony. In this book, the author takes insights into such aspects of their spiritual life as beliefs in spirits, sacrifices, planting, circumcision, burial ceremonies, superstitions against women and children, and many other interesting facts about the life of these ancient tribes as it was when the first contacted with the people from the west.
