A witty, moving tale of monsters and modern life from the award-winning author of Cackle and The Return. For readers looking for a story of sisterhood, complicated families and love with a bit more bite...
Rory Morris isn't thrilled to be moving back to her hometown. There are bad memories there. But her twin sister, Scarlett, is pregnant and needs support, so Rory returns to the place she thought she'd put in her rearview. After a night out at a bar where she runs into Ian, an old almost-flame, she hits a large animal with her car. And when she gets out to investigate, she's attacked.
Rory survives, miraculously, but life begins to look and feel different. She's unnaturally strong, with an aversion to silver—and suddenly the moon has her in its thrall. She's changing into someone else—something else. But does that mean she's putting those close to her in danger? Or is embracing the wildness inside her the key to acceptance?
This darkly comedic love story is a brilliantly layered portrait of trauma, rage, and vulnerability.

Wow! That was a good book. Damn. Im pretty speechless. I was not too fond of Cackle, and Black Sheep wasn't for me, so I went into this one with presumptions that the formula and setting would be similar to her other books. Still, wowzers, she exceeded my expectations and, albeit, punched me in the gut with alot of the themes mirroring my own life and the trials and tribulations I'm currently facing. I believe this book is for a bit of everyone. If I could sum this book up on the side of a plastic lunchbox, I'd say expect supernatural werewolf folklore, add in a romance (hold the cheese) along with our anti-heroine heroine's journey through her finding herself despite the trauma that has held her back her entire adulthood, forgiveness not just for others but for herself and how to use these tools to help differentiate ourselves from our counterparts in thus case twin now pregnant sister and coming to love respect and have a conversation past surface level sarcastic banter they're too comfortable with. Okay, maybe that was a little long and all over the place, but that's how my mind feels after being filled with so much eye-watering intake. So, if you are feeling frisky and ready to put your big girl panties on, I'd say start with this here book it will sink its oh-so-very sharp teeth into you. 😉🖤☪️
