The Book of Jubilees

Audiobook

The Book of Jubilees, sometimes called "Little Genesis", is an ancient Jewish book that retells many of the stories in Genesis and Exodus with some additional details. It has been known in the West only since the 1840s, when European travelers acquired manuscripts from monasteries in Ethiopia. Then, in 1949, a complete Hebrew manuscript was found amongst the Dead Sea Scrolls. It is considered canonical by the Ethiopian Orthodox Church and one of the pseudepigrapha by Protestant, Roman Catholic, and Eastern Orthodox Churches. It was well known to Early Christians, as evidenced by the writings of Epiphanius, Justin Martyr, Origen and others.

The Book of Jubilees claims to have been revealed to Moses by angels while he was on Mount Sinai for forty days and forty nights. The chronology given in Jubilees is based on multiples of seven; the jubilees are periods of 49 years, into which all of time has been divided.

Robert Henry Charles (1859-1933), the translator of this edition, was a greatly respected Irish theologian and scholar who translated a range of Old Testament apocrypha and pseudepigrapha.

This audio book version of the Book of Jubilees is read by Christopher Glyn and completes his project to provide a uniform narration of the King James Bible, the Apocrypha, the books of Enoch, Jasher and Jubilees.
