Viktor Rydberg [1828-1895] räknas som en av 1800-talets stora svenska diktare och författare, tillsammans med Carl Jonas Love Almqvist och August Strindberg. Till hans mest berömda verk hör Singoalla (1865) och dikten Tomten (1881). Den teologiska stridsskriften Bibelns lära om Kristus (1862) blev en av 1800-talets mest debatterade svenska böcker.
