After visiting a remote beauty spot in Thailand, newly married British couple, Vic and Louise Landry, fail to return to their hotel. With no bodies found, however, and after several weeks of intense press coverage, the frenzy of speculation quickly fades: the couple had surely been robbed and left for dead somewhere in the vast steamy, mountainous jungle.

Meanwhile, back in England, having just returned from holiday, freelance writer Ingrid Houseman, has been commissioned to look into the story.
