Young Christer Tomasson believes he is one of the afflicted of the Ice People when he meets the weak and submissive Magdalena at a sanatorium. He thinks he can use his magical powers to help her, but she disappears without a trace and is replaced by another girl. Christer soon realizes something is terribly wrong, and the truth he uncovers threatens to shake all of Sweden to its core.
