The first section of the book deals with the the basics of connectors. Here the various aspects of the physics of contacts, such as - the coatings, resistance, etc. are described. The second section on contact design and connection technology has been supplemented with information on the highly topical USB 3.1 specification. In the third section there are now numerous practice-oriented technical reports on application examples: The “Modularis” automation modular system for rapid prototyping, an emergency call system for the public transportation network, a USB adapter for enclosure mounting, impedance measurement of FFC cables, impedance matching for communication with high data rates and much more besides. Test methods are also described in this chapter.
