Not my favourite in the series, but it's still quite good! I found the ending shocking, though nothing probably should shock me in this brutal world... The book feels more political than Red Rising, as in, Darrow has to play more at politics than "just survive" as he did in the first one. One can easily imagine a Roman empire as the Golds seem to build themselves upon. It is brutal and heartbreaking... It's told from a first person perspective (Darrow) and the reader does a great job at capture his emotions and persona. A couple of scenes REALLY stand out and will stick with me, thus I give it 5 stars instead of my initial 4. Onto the next one!
