The revolt of David Alroy, a twelfth-century Jewish claimant who set out to retake Jerusalem from the caliph. Disraeli wrote it after his own journey to the East and it is the most openly Jewish thing he published. This edition is bound with 59 plates of painting, among them works by Edvard Munch, Eugène Delacroix and George Henry Laporte, and includes one restored and coloured in-text illustration.
