Om denne boken

Complete and unabridged, with 46 full-page plates by John Everett Millais, John Constable and Marianne North. Chaucer for the nursery: the Prologue, the Knight's Tale, the Franklin's and the Pardoner's, given in Mrs Haweis's modernised verse with the Middle English printed beside it. She wrote and illustrated it in 1877 for her own children, and it was one of the first attempts to give Chaucer to the young. The glossary and the pictures teach the language as much as the text does. Forty-six plates after Leighton and Millais, from Chaucer's own court to the North-West Passage, open the medieval world the verses describe.
