Gimlet and Cub parachute back into France and meet up with The Fleas who show them the body of a dead Frenchman, Jacques, of the French Underground. Jacques was supposed to meet up with a contact but was shot by the Nazis, who are planning to replace him with a spy to infiltrate the Underground. Gimlet dresses in Jacque’s clothes to continue the rendezvous in place of Jacques. Jacques did not know the man he was supposed to meet and the man did not know Jacques. At the restaurant, a German Unteroffizier arrests Gimlet. How does Gimlet proceed—and where are The Fleas and the Underground?
