Ruth Plumly Thompson was an American author best known for writing many novels in the magical land of Oz. Thompson was a big fan of L. Frank Baum’s classic books growing up and decided to write books on the series after Baum’s death in 1919. Thompson’s first book in the series was The Royal Book of Oz.
