Help Wanted: Romance author will pay $20k for sixty days of fake dating a stranger. PS—You have to live together (and there's only one bed)
AUDREY
I'm starstruck when I discover Victoria-freaking-Trulette is the prospective employer. Then I hear her offer—twenty thousand dollars if I fake date a stranger, as "research" for her next novel? I barely have any experience being a real girlfriend! But you know what they say about desperate times . . . and I'm out of options.
Now, I just have to survive without falling for my fake boyfriend. Hot, intimidating, and out of my league, Walker is the kind of guy I usually avoid out of self-preservation. Keeping things fake isn't difficult when he's being a jerk—it's the glimpses of his softer side that are dangerous.
WALKER
This author might be certifiable, but if playing along with her little experiment is what it will take to finally quit working for my dad, I guess I can chill for a couple of months. As far as "falling in love?" If that's Victoria's hope, she'll be disappointed. Then there's Audrey, who is the most awkward girl I've ever met. Definitely not my type . . . no matter how cute she looks in her glasses.
Contains mature themes.

This had so much potential... but it ended up feeling cringeworthy and pre-millennial. And NOT in a good way! A fun and new-ish twist on a classic romcom trope filled with lots of possible lay ups for top notch banter and squirmy situations. Endless premieres to rev up the tension and unleash the chemistry. But alas, no such luck. Still, I was truly surprised this started out as bland and unoriginal as it did. The characters and storyline could absolutely work and create something exceptional but the execution ended up weak and sloppy, and the character arcs were stale and old. With too unoriginal hang ups and parentally caused low self worthy which dragged on throughout the entire book without any actual progression or betterment. There were so much other dumb sh*t that just dragged both the mood and the story down. And then there’s grovelling… or was there, ugh not even the HEA felt good. Just no! I wouldn’t recommend this one.
